  Creditreform Rating affirms the Long-Term Issuer Rating of UniCredit Bank AG at BBB-. The rating outlook is stable. This reflects UniCredit S.p.A.'s (Group) Long-Term Issuer Rating, in line with our methodology. CRA also affirms UniCredit Bank AG's Preferred Senior Unsecured Debt at BBB-, Non-Preferred Senior Unsecured Debt at BB+, Tier 2 Capital at BB- and AT1 Capital at B.

The rating of 'Tier 2' capital is affirmed at 'BB-'. The rating of 'Non-Preferred Senior Unsecured' is affirmed at 'BB+'. The rating of 'Preferred-Senior Unsecured' debt is affirmed at 'BBB-'.   The parent institution of UniCredit Bank AG, UniCredit S.p.A. is present in the Russian Federation through its subsidiary UniCredit Bank Russia and has additional cross-border exposures. The impact of a potential total loss, as outlined in a press release dated March 8, 2022 by UniCredit, is unlikely to affect the current long-term issuer ratings; however, the possible uncontrolled loss of access to the Russian subsidiary and the unpredictable risks of the subsidiary's business environment is noteworthy. Therefore, in the wake of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the "stable" outlook is withdrawn and "watch (unknown)" status is assigned in light of this development. The LT issuer rating is confirmed. All issuer ratings (AT1, T2, NPS, PSU) are also assigned the status "watch (unknown)".

  Creditreform Rating AG has revised its rating methodology for the rating of banks (Bank Ratings). Henceforth, only the revised version of the rating methodology ("Version 3.0") will be applied with the end of the consultation process. In addition, Creditreform Rating AG introduced the new sub-methodology „Institutional Protection Scheme Banks“.
